  What "religion" type do you follow?

  hi, i'm on my "spiritual search so i want to see what "religion"/non religion you choose and why.

  for example: are you christian?

  I stopped looking for a religion to belong to but I listen to people of any and all faiths and take what I want from what they say. Common sense goes a long way in deciding what to keep and what to throw out. The dubs pretty much ruined organized religion for me. I see it all as dedicating oneself to man, be it a group like the GB or an individual like the Pope. I hope there's an afterlife ... we'll all find out one day for sure Therefore, I belive in life, I belive in death and I believe in God. The first two are a matter of fact, the latter a matter of faith.

  Are You/ Were You Careful To Follow Rules??

  when we were in the organization, i noticed that some persons wanted rules.

  needed them!

  there are people in society that also feel secure when they have stricter rules than not.

  I admit that I did need rules when I first came into the org. My mother wasn't around much ... working and all and she didn't spend a lot of time teaching me her values ... cussed me out quite a bit and made blanket statements like "all boys want is to get in your panties" ... (me) yeah, AND? LOL. The WT gave me strict guidelines to live by and hey ... I would get eternal life in paradise if I stayed true. But after so many years I realized there were too many rules, and most of them didn't make sense to me anymore. Now I live my life based on my own values, and use critical thinking to check things out. I'm a life long learner now so I'm not going to fall for just anything. And I have no problem saying 'I don't know'.

  There seems to be pride in some to be able to say that 'I left WTS' instead of JWs kicked me out'. Does it really matter, at all?

  Did they fire me or did I quit first ... doesn't matter as long as they leave me alone!

  It seems that some on other boards were proud of the fact that they left for reasons of conscience. I give them Kudos for that ... I was too plumb dumb to even realize how badly I'd been duped till 5 years after I left.

  did they ATTEMPT to save you

  when you were before a judicial commitee for whatever reason...did they try to get you to see the error of your ways and thus save you from destruction at the big a...or were they just happy to let you die.. .

  i have a theory that goes like this...if you are sorry they think that you are not and df you...if you are not sorry they make an attempt to try and save you because its a kind of feather in their cap.. .

  i was sorry...so sorry i thought i deserved to be df...and said that i expected to be..and they later told me i said i wanted to be df...which i didnt..(i was a mental and emotional wreck on the night of the jc although i tried to portray otherwise)....but even if i had, surely they had some responsibiity to try and 'readjust' me.. .

  Not me tij ... I just told 'em what I did and let the gavel fall. But before I was ready to leave I was counseled on a couple of occasions and those elders were very understanding. Helps when you're kinda cute, ya'know

  for a group that constantly bitches about people needing to accomadate it's beliefs and practices, jw's sure are inflexible and intolerant.

  i realize that we all already know that, but is of special irritation to me right now.

  my oldest sister, who is faded and now regularly attends a worldly church, is getting married.

  Pointing out the obvious: This is yet another example of JWs ignoring normal social etiquette. It is not up to a wedding guest (or invitee to any social event) to determine the venue, nor is it appropriate to complain about it. An invitee should simply accept or decline an invitation, not attempt to manipulate its conditions.

  Great post rebel8. Witnesses want everyone to cow-tow to their weird beliefs. They have no social etiquette ... which is why I am still trying to catch up on mine (lol).

  anasazi........ i read with an open mind your post..i would like you to go to the member directory....click on my name and read my first post...and if you wish read all my post...if you can explain what has happened to me and my family...by scriptrual terms or not...ill listen...you one chance to bring me back...make good use of it...im not disfellowshipped or have not turned in a letter of disacssotion...but am trying to grasp what has happened ...keep in mind the elders have not called on myself...wife...children..even though weve left the door open to do so.

  to everyone else who reads this post...same thin..ill listen with an open mind to eithier side...but no matter what...im going back to school...im not going to waste my life by being poor and ignorant...that part ends now..... ...thank you for your time...donald

  Scully grounded him for some really hateful, callous posts last night.

  I made a pretty nasty comment about him on the Friends thread he started. Me tinks he didn't like em ... called him a little slave and told him to go ahead and waste his life serving OWM in an ivory tower ... etc etc. Then I told him in the nice-nastiest way I could to f**k OFF (please don't be mad at me Scully). Maybe I provoked him just a weeeeee little bit. I can't help it ... I'm a Gemini .... I can get a little fiesty sometimes sweet tee of the "bad aposta-b**ch, bad, bad, bad - class"

  Hopefully another JW lurker will tell you why you should remain a JW. Then you can discern the right course.

  Why would a dub discourage one from remaining in the org. if they truly believe it is the only way to salvation??? DUH!

  question-- if a jw is disfellowshipped for having too much association with a non-witness- is this jw likely to be refused a reinstatement as long as he is associating with her-- and if so- will he be allowed to talk to her again to some degree after he is reinstated?

  Live Music?

  when i was a kid we had live music i our congo.. violin, piano, trombone and even accordion.

  and odd combinations of these instruments.

  the musicans also showed up on assemblys.. does anyone have live music anymore??

  guys and gals try this one on....i just found out that our local congertion...sold the old hall...with all its acrege...to the local catholic church to become a school.for preist.....i had thought the wtbs was to have no dealings with babylon the great....donald
